New vLSO released!

Guys,
It's finally here! It's not a beta, it's release v.1.0! And it's my Christmas gift to all of you, fellow simmers!

This new version is fully compatible with FSX/SE, Prepar3D 1 to 4 (including 64-bit), as well as with the RFN (32-bit only) and SimWorks Studios gauges.

Of course, you will notice some GUI improvements, but the most significant changes are under the hood. Almost all parts of the code were revisited, modified, rewritten from scratch or deleted. The data structure was changed and new version is not compatible with any of the previous beta versions. This means that you will have to qualify again...

Also, the vLSO config file format changed from INI to XML, which means that you will have to manually transfer your custom aircraft settings to the new program.

Before you start the program, I urge you to spend some time to read the manual. Probably, I should have described some parts in more details but it is what it is.

I want to express my gratitude to Sylvain Parouty (RFN) and Farley Kelly-Masterton (SimWorks). It's been an honor and privilege working with them. And my special grand merci goes to Michel Panattoni, ex naval pilot, who greatly helped me to debug and improve the RFN part of vLSO.

Well, that's it. Have fun and happy holidays!

  2. This is excellent news. Thank you so much! One question, are we able to import our logbook from previous versions? Looks like this new one is using *.lxf extension for log book where the old one was using a *.ldf extension.

    1. Unfortunately no, due to many technical reasons.
Same LDF and LXF file extensions, but different content inside them...

  8. Is there a way to get the carriers and aircraft not installed inside P3D Root simobjects to show in vLSO//

    1. Once the carriers and planes are properly installed in the sim, they should appear in the program as well. I keep some of my planes on a separate disk, for example, and they all are available for vLSO.

  9. Paddles all my planes and carriers are "properly" installed in the sim using the ADD-ON Package method , all show in the sim and work well, when I open VLSO I only have one carrier , then I moved the Nimitz fleet to P3D simobjects boats and they appeared..

same with tanker A , only shows all the AC inside Simobjects\airplanes ..

I see what you say but you must have an entry in your simobjects\.. for this to work.my simobjects\boats or \airplanes only has default objects.

  11. Ok, I'll see what might cause the problem in P3D 4. Thanks for reporting this!

  12. My simobjects.cfg is totally default , no other aircraft there, using add-on packages you get entries in the add-ons.cfg in program data \lockehed martin , unfortunately the way LM has done it makes all devs very hard to find the simobjects in the SIM as they can be anywhere , with the only reference in the add-on.cfg file, in there also you would need to ine down to see if there is a simobject or scenery ,..I added the T45 to vLSO and flew to the Team SDBcarrier but nothing happens , vLso does not work there.
Now that I put the Nimitz aI will also move the T45 and see,.. will let you know.
How do I send you a PM??

  13. Hi, paddles, thanks for the new release!

I'm having an issue. Every time I try to set up a carrier, vlso won't find it. I use the sdb enterprise and it used to work fine, but now, when I set it up with tacpack, I see 'location not selected' at the bottom of the vlso window. It's also not working with kntu and javier's carriers.
It does work with simworks studios carriers, although I don't see an abeam call like before and once I trapped, vlso won't tell me which wire I caught. I have FSX and P3Dv4, but I only use FSX as my combat sim.

    1. I'll see what's wrong with carriers.
As for SWS, please make sure that the version of your CarrierExtensions.dll is 3.1.1.2311 (or above)
