vLSO 0.8.0.0 is ready

Ok guys,
Finally my work on this beta is done... It's a major update, with a number of new features and with some minor tweaks and bugfixes... What's new?
  • A rollback option (after a successful trap)
  • A NATOPS option (to follow CQ/FCLP requirements)
  • Tracking pilot's currency
  • A new logbook file format
  • Export and import of logbook records in various formats (XML, CSV, LXF)
  • New LSO comments - TWA, TCA, LIG
  • New LSO grade - WOP
  • Colored CQ/FCLP logbook records
  • Color icons for different CASE approaches
  • New LSO voice calls
Don't worry about the new logbook format - the program will automatically convert your logbook to the new format, the LDF, provided the logbook was created by vLSO of the 0.7 series. The original DAT file will be renamed to Logbook.old.

Also, I'd suggest to move (not just copy) the Sound folder to a safe place and replace it with a new one from the package.

Well... Download, unzip and have a good weekend flying with the new program! )))

  1. Got a small typo during start up. For P3D it is hunting for ..v2fsx,exe instaed of just v2.exe. Keeps vLSO from running in Prepar3D.

  2. Great work!!! Was able to develop a script to have pilots import their logbook for on online Greenboard. Thank you for all your efforts!!!

  3. Thanks Paddles/FSXNavyPilot. You create amazing good work for FSX gratis.

  4. Thank you very much for this fantastic add-on!!!

  5. I need to add/correct my comments in the first post.

What I think is missing is an "/" that is needed before the fsx.exe as part of the directory path.

Previous version worked very well in P3D by the way.

  6. Very good addon!!!
You mentioned in one of your earliest posts that this blog could be a place of speculation... :)
I was wondering, (and hoping) that as this is possibly the one and only carrier comm addon for fsx, if Case III approach procedures will eventually be implemented. I.E. Marshal fix, push time, catcc @ 10nm, and so forth... I think this would go hand in hand with the VRS products. I don't want to be demanding :) but im just curious if this is eventually possible.

    Thanks,
    John

    I would add - it's a matter of time... But I won't promise anything ;-)

  8. I figured out what MY problem was. It was a path error. When I corrected that version 8 worked correctly.

    Great program!

    1. Hi there!

How exactly did you correct this 'path problem' ? I am using p3d v2 and cannot get vLSO to work

  9. one slight problem I have noticed is that the lso will some times call WO too late, so that my engines don't have enough time to keep me from catching a wire, even if I use full after burner. this results in a cut grade, which is sometimes frustrating.
    great product though!!!

  10. Well, there are two possible reasons - SimConnect-FSX communication delays and program's logic flaws. Bear in mind, this is still a beta and such a thing is possible

  11. I absolutely love this program, but in 47 approaches i have yet to have any success. is there a user guide anywhere that can teach me how to do it properly. my lineup is fine, but my glideslope leaves somewhat to be desired.

    many thanks.

  13. Hi Paddles,
you did a remarkable job with this software, I was wondering if you are considering implementing in your program, the RFN carriers, the Foch/Clemenceau/Charles de Gaulle. That would be so nice for the frenchies !

    Huge thanks for your work

  14. These ships utilize custom OLS. I had some discussions with Sylvain and currently the main constraint is the inability to access his XML gauge variables from within my program. If I find a solution to this problem I'll add the RFN carriers to the program

    ReplyDelete
  15. That would be so great because I find your program so much easier to use than the RFN gauge.

    1. Hey guys, your tool is very impressive. It´s absolutely cool to learn Patterns and carrier-ops all about. Thumbs up for this great work, hopeful you get the Freeware-Award of this year. My vote is clearly yours. Keep it up & big THX

  17. Thanks for the awesome work Paddles... For me FSX is about the VRS SuperBug and the SuperBug is all about flying the Navy way. Traps would be without challenge without the vLSO... I figure it's crossed your mind a time or two but what are the chances of adding the parameters beginning with the break? It would be nice to see an occasional SHB on the log. For me one of the hardest parts of a trap is getting a perfect break from a crisp roll out to pulling the proper Gs without actual Gs against you through a smooth line up on the downwind. As is stands now I can get away with slop. It would be great to to have that "The LSO is watching" feeling when I line up for the break!

  18. Thanks for the comments. Actually, SHB option is on my to do list.
We'll discuss it more detailed, but not sure when....

  20. I don't have P3D so can't say anything, but people say yes.

  21. Paddles, I have an issue with your Ball lighting system being way to blurry to read as I approach. I have two Images, one using your scenery and one with another NOLF add on and you will clearly be able to see the difference. The 3rd partys Ball lighting system is much more clear and does not have a universal haze. Can I have your email to upload the photos?

I would like to continue using your version for the LSO capabilities but I can't reliably use the ball.

  22. It is known glitch, caused by the default halo.bmp. I suggest you try my tweaked halo.bmp. For your convenience I attached it to this blog. Please use the sidebar link, download and follow the included instructions.

  23. Hi Paddles, I can't understand how to get the FCLP to work. I have installed KNRA_FCLP but I don't get any LSO calls and the FCLP LSO Logbook has no entries. I have the TACAN set to 57X; is there something else I need to do?

    Thanks:CC

  24. TACAN is there just for navigation purposes, not for bouncing.
The most important is a vLSO text message, announcing that you're within a FCLP area (which radius is 6 nm). If, when approaching KNRA, you can't see this message. then there's something wrong with your scenery installation.
If your installation is correct, there should be present a vLSO addon menu option 'Chose a runway' (as per the 'MULTIPLE CARRIERS AND FCLP RUNWAYS SUPPORT' section of the manual). By default, the program assigns as an active a runway, which was closest to you at the moment you entered a FCLP area. You can then change an active runway via vLSO addon menu. Also, make sure you're approaching the active runway, otherwise vLSO will not watch your passes.

    1. Thanks Paddles, It was a combination of two things; sometimes vLSO doesn't connect to FSX, I've noticed this for a while doing traps. I just have to shut vLSO down and restart then all is good. So between that occasionally happening and me failing to choose the right runway the other times it seemed as if it wasn't working. So now it's a no brainer! I just have to check the AddOn menu to ensure I'm set up and running.

The bad part is now that I have it up and running; I suck at it! I can get an OK-3 much smoother from a moving carrier then an OK pass in FCLP. I guess that's what the "P" is all about; practice!
