vLSO 0.7 news [FCLP]

This version will support FCLP and the first FCLP location will be NOLF Coupeville. This scenery is a part of my FCLP missions pack vol.2 with only one file added for vLSO compatibility. The IFLOLS remains set to 3.75. These screenshots were taken from my last bouncing session with some head wind. Landing with 16 knots WOD with gusts turned into a challenging endeavour, so my average grade was a stitch )))) Practice, practice and practice...

  3. Preparing the scenery with a new missions pack and final testing will take a week or so...

  4. FSXNP great news. Looks good. With my new computer I have found some annoying features in FSX (more noticeable in FCLP but also in regular landings) that just before touchdown the sim pauses for an fraction of an instant. And as we have discussed before, setting the wind to be consistent everywhere in the FCLP area does not seem to happen, with abrupt wind changes near the airfield making life less than perfect. :-) No fault of your excellent work though. Thanks again.

  5. About wind gusts: I tried to have 'no turbulence' in the wind at any level - with consistent wind direction and speed everywhere; but those 'hiccups' remain (as we discussed some time ago now). Such a pity FSX could not be more accurate in those respects. If anyone finds a cure please let us know. TIA.

  6. Spaz,
    Thanks for your info. Yes, FSX keeps puzzling... ))))
    Anyways, I'm going to copy weather settings from my FCLP Pack 2 to the Pack 3. And all missions will start at NAS Whidbey, so you'll have to fly 9nm to NOLF Coupeville, as in reality.

  7. This is intriguing! Few questions...does this work in free flight at NOLF Coupeville just as vLSO works in free flight with carriers or is this missions only? Does it also require your specific scenery? I have a new NOLF Coupeville that came with NAS Whidbey Island Scenery made for FSX and compatible with Orbx PNW. It already has IFLOLS and carrier markings on the runway so I wondered if that scenery would work. Lastly is it easy to expand the FCLP function to other airfields? I created a scenery for NOLF Joe Williams near NAS Meridian for my T-45 ops that I uploaded to AVSIM long ago. It would be neat to add this function to that field as well as the NOLF Choctaw scenery that I designed. Thanks!

  8. The program supports vLSO compatible FCLP sceneries both in free flight and in missions. The only requirement is the presence of a compatible scenery, properly installed and activated. A compatible scenery must have a Mk14 IFLOLS and a carrier box with night lighting. Anything else is optional, its just an eye candy ))
    I saw that new NAS Whidbey scenery... Overall, it is a nicely made scenery with a photorealistic terrain. But Coupeville runway still remains misplaced (known FSX glitch), carrier box has no lights (how would you do night FCLPs?) and my program doesn't support Sylvain's FLOLS (which itself requires some additional work to set up)...
    Due to FSX technical limitations both the Mk14 and the carrier box are not objects/models which could be placed anywhere you wanted. I have to compile them as a separate set for each specific location. I wish I could make a easy-to-deploy Mk14 with adjustable glideslope angle and controllable waveoff lights ;-)

    1. Thanks for the reply! If you are willing I would be interested in adding the vLSO capability to my add-on NOLF Sceneries of Joe Williams and Chocktaw. Joe Williams NOLF is the FCLP location for NAS Meridian T-45s and Chocktaw is used by aircraft out of NAS Pensacola and Whiting Field. I could update the packages on AVSIM and Flightsim.com adding the vLSO capability. I don't know if this is something you were looking at doing but I would be willing to help if you were and could let me know how to add the capability. Thanks!

  9. Hi just had first flight, i find the runway and IFLOLS lights far to bright it all melts into one blob. Other wise it all good. I assume it has something to do with the texture that affects all the lights.

    1. David,

      Are you running a single monitor or a multi-monitor setup?
      If on a multi-monitor setup, make sure that "WideViewAspect" property in your FSX.CFG is set to "True".

      Also, add following four lines in teh [Display] section of your FSX.CFG,

      RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.75
      RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=1.0
      RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.65
      RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.7

      You can play with these numbers as you like. Lesser values will reduce the 'blob' of that light, and higher numbers will increase. For a 3 monitor setup, values close to 0.6-0.7 work good. For a single monitor setup, you might like it between 1.0 - 1.2

      Hope this helps?

  10. Had that, had to replace spotlight.bmp it had being overwritten all good now. Cept I occasional get an error if I open VLSO before FSX loads?? This is harder than carriers ??

    Thanks

  11. I have the same problem David. How did you fix this. I have orbx world installed as well as shockwave lights redux etc... I have a lot of mods to my FSX, and on my approach the (Ball) lights are always way too blurred together and its impossible to distinguish until you are touching down. Any hints?
